Fitting Runlock To MK7 2012 Transit
Hi,
After conversation at length with my insurer, it has been decided that we need to fit a runlock to our Transits.
Just wondering who has done this and what kit you used. In the old days, we'd just use a couple of relays and a bit of old wire floating around. Is this still good enough for modern vehicles?
Does anyone have a wiring diagram handy for a mk7 ignition barrel?
Kind Regards,
Matt

I think it's what i have on my gentlemen's van, you can take the keys out and go shopping and the engine keeps running, it'll cut out IF the handbrake or clutch is pressed, stop gypos nicking it
Something am electrician would fit i expect?
Probably a module available but i think it'll be a switched relay to the ignition run relay that you press to bypass the ignition switch when pressed and that has switches on the handbrake/clutch that disengage the bypas relay.
Mine is blue and lights up when pressed which is informative and pretty
Question is, why do you want it?

I'm not sure , but if a correctly fitted runlock is fitted, which deactivates if you press clutch, brake panel of release the handbrake then I think it's OK because nothing can be done to the unattended vehicle.

This is something I'd be interested in too , I need to have the engine running to power the inverter
(key cutting / power tools) Always a chance someone could jump in and drive off..

If I was going to use one I'd also get a disco lock for the stearing wheel to put off any one thinking they'd just breaking in and drive off easily with the run lock you may not loose the van but it may stop you losing a side window and may also keep plod happy
